FALMOUTH UNIVERSITY

Hospitality Management

We deliver shared Higher Education services and facilities for Falmouth University (Falmouth) and the University of Exeter (UoE) in Cornwall. Our purpose is to help UoE and Falmouth achieve their global ambitions and to support them in providing their students with a life-changing university experience.

Our name reflects the strong link to our Higher Education partners. It also signifies the added value that we bring through the development and delivery of shared facilities and services for students and staff. Falmouth Exeter Plus (FX Plus) manages all shared services at the Penryn Campus on behalf of Falmouth and UoE, and some services at Falmouth’s Falmouth Campus. We provide a comprehensive range of services and facilities to support Higher Education learning and living.

All the activities are underpinned by close collaboration with the Falmouth and Exeter Students’ Union (FXU) and staff from across the wider partnership to ensure that the interests of all campus users are at the heart of everything we do.

ABOUT THE AREA

Falmouth Campus is the university’s main administrative hub and is the main centre for the Schools of Art, Design and Fashion. It is home to the courses of BA(Hons)Fashion Design, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Illustration, Performance Sportswear Design, Sustainable Product Design and Public Relations, and provides facilities for MA Creative Advertising and MA Illustration: Authorial Practice.

Due to the projected high intake for September 2012, the campus underwent changes to accommodate this, with the first floor of the library being converted into BA Graphic Design studios following denial of planning permission to build upon the already existing graphic design department building.

Surrounding the campus within the town of Falmouth are several annexes. Arwenack Annexe which was the original School of Art, Wellington Terrace Annexe which hosts the Foundation Degree students and Henry Scott Tuke House in the centre of the town accommodating those studying at Wellington Terrace and some undergraduates based at Falmouth Campus. Since 2002, the original school of art building has provided dedicated studios for MA Fine Art: Contemporary Practice.

FAQs

Choose your university and course

Before you choose

  • Talk to a careers/guidance adviser.
  • Visit www.ucas.com to get more information and compare the courses and universities that interest you. When you apply, you can select up to five choices.
  • Do a keyword search on UCAS – if there’s a specific course title or course combination you want to do, type it directly into the UCAS course finder engine.
  • Do your research carefully – check out university websites, as well as UCAS, so you get a real feel for the place.
  • Consider the course content and not just its title – English at one university is not the same as English at another university.
Check the entry requirements – will you need specific subjects (including GCSEs) or work experience? Are you on track to achieve the grades you need?
  • Attend university open days – see our handy checklist for suggestions on things you could ask about. If you’re considering Anglia Ruskin, we’d love to see you at one of our undergraduate Open Days.
  • Get advice from friends, family and school staff – but don’t forget the ultimate choice is yours.
  • Try to get to a UCAS HE Fair where you can pick up prospectuses from lots of different universities and speak with their representatives.
  • Have you chosen courses with a range of entry requirements? Try to maximise your chances by making your ‘Insurance’ option a course with lower grade requirements than your ‘Firm’ choice.
  • Think about a range of universities with different entry requirements.
  • Above all you should be comfortable with your choices: it’s all about finding the ‘best fit’ for you.
